Kit Swing was born and raised in the glorious gutters of London. From her obsession with collecting animal cadavers and body parts as a small, grubby child to being submerged in the peep-shows and go-go bars of Soho as a teenager, to playing in rock n’ roll bands in London dive bars. This back-drop along with her love of dark literature, has directed and infused her art and her creative endeavours, including lyric writing and taxidermy. She is fuelled and inspired by the darker pockets of life and its seedy underbelly, delving within, to probe out the innards of human existence.

 

Drawn to the dark, the violent and the visually striking, her infatuation is reflected in her use of mixed materials and precious metals. The menacing themes she conjures appeal to those who share her bold and morbid fascinations.

 

Kit Swing’s unique appeal lies in the fact that it is embedded with her ‘tough love’ personality, strength and individuality. Never appreciating being told what to wear KS pieces are gender fluid; you will not find gender-specified collections here.  Wear what you want; loud, proud, alluring.

 

Kit Swing is intended to elicit reaction, evoke an emotional response; to draw you into a narrative compiled of twisted chronicles and turbulent moods. KS makes the wearer feel that they are engaged in the narrative presented to them; that they can wear it as a beautiful and unique object in itself, or immerse themselves in its testament. Jewellery can be armour; it can be a talisman drenched in symbolism, be it power, protection, hope, nostalgia, heartbreak or sexuality.

 

KS is body adornment for the distinguished degenerate, the misfits, the black of heart, the rock n’ roll souls; those who don’t fit in the box but stand on the crate; the oddity obsessed, the fierce, the fabulous, the foul-mouthed diva, the sirens, the sailors and everything in between.

Kit Swing has a City and Guilds diploma in Jewellery Manufacture, a foundation degree in Art, Design, Media, a BA in Jewellery and silversmithing and an award for Mixed Media from the British Jeweller’s Association.

Each piece is designed and crafted by hand in her London based workshop.
